Lushan Scenic Area (includes main entrance ticket) đŤRating: 4.4/5
Lushan Scenic Area is located by Poyang Lake in Jiujiang. Although it may not rival the grandeur of Chinaâs Five Great Mountains, it is rich in cultural heritage. Many ancient poets and scholars praised its beautyâmost famously Su Shiâs verse, âOne canât recognize the true face of Lushan, simply because one is in the mountain,â which inspires much admiration. đđToday, Lushan is a well-developed tourist attraction. With green hills, waterfalls, sunrises, and historic villas, many travelers come to witness the âtrue face of Lushan.â đđĄVisitors typically first arrive in Jiujiang and then transfer to a shuttle bus. The bus stops at Lushanâs main entrance for ticketing, then continues up to Guling Townâthe tourist hub of Lushan. Accommodation, food, and shopping can be found here. Itâs also the main terminal for sightseeing buses, offering convenient access to all major attractions. đđşď¸
Lushanâs main attractions are on the northwest and southeast sides. A typical visit lasts 2â3 days, but key highlights can be seen in one day. The west route includes Ruqin Lake, Huajing (filming site of Romance on Lushan Mountain), and Jinxiu Valley. These are close together, making it ideal for a relaxed one-day tour. đ¸đŹThe eastern route features more dramatic and distant sights, such as climbing Hanpokou, Wulao Peaks, or descending to Sandie Spring. You can also visit historic villas like Meilu and the Lushan Conference Site. However, this route is more physically demanding. đ§đ˝đď¸Most sightseeing is done on foot, though sightseeing buses shuttle between major attractions. Walking the whole way can be tiring, so a combination of walking and bus rides is recommended. Just follow the sightseeing bus routes and youâll be fine. đśâď¸đ
Additionally, the Lushan Love Cinema in Guling Town screens the 1980 version of Romance on Lushan Mountain. Watching it here offers a sense of the subtlety and warmth of that era. đŹđInterestingly, because this cinema plays only this one film every day, it has set a Guinness World Record. đ˝ď¸đ
After arriving at the Lushan Scenic Area, due to unified environmental protection management, visitors must switch to the internal sightseeing buses (sightseeing bus fee included). As these buses are dispatched under centralized management, some waiting time may be requiredâthank you for your understanding. đđ

Meilu Villa (No Ticket Required) 4.4/5
In the eastern valley of Lushanâs Guling area flows the winding Changchong River. Nestled in the lush greenery by the riverside lies an English-arched-style villa. đĄđżThe villa was originally built in 1903 by British Lord Reynolds and was later transferred in 1922 to Lady Barley, a friend of Soong Mei-ling. In 1934, Barley gifted the house to Soong Mei-ling.Meilu Villa consists of a main building and an annex. The main building has two floors, while the annex has one.Climb the cross-shaped stone steps, pass through the open terrace, and you enter the first floorâs elegant living roomâa beautiful fusion of Chinese and Western styles. đŁđŞ
With catâs eye green carpets, dark green sofas, and photos of Soong Mei-ling from various stages of life adorning the walls, it offers a glimpse into her days at Meilu. The interior has largely remained in its original form. At the center is a double reception bed made from high-quality British wood. To the left sits a round carved vanity table, and on the square cabinet are elegant items like an ivory fan. đď¸đŞFrom the outside, the annex features a row of glass windows. Inside, one side is a corridor and the other houses various functional rooms like a dining room, music room, and guard room. Today, it has been converted into an exhibition hall. đď¸đź
The exhibition consists of three main sections:
1. Items preserved from Meilu, including Soong Mei-lingâs piano, her collection of hardcover English books, her watercolor painting Lushan Stream, and a kerosene-powered Frigidaire refrigerator;
2. Historical photos and items from political events of the Nationalist Government in âthe summer capitalâ Lushan, including a photo of Chiang Kai-shek at the 1934 Lushan Military Officersâ Training Camp graduation, and his 1937 meeting with Marshall on Meiluâs terrace;
3. Historical scenes of Guling and scenic photos of Lushan taken in the 1930s. đźď¸đˇ

Hanpokou (No Ticket Required) 4.6/5
Between Hanpo Ridge and the opposite Hanyang Peak lies a massive gorge that seems capable of draining the entire Poyang Lake at the foot of the mountainâhence the name âHanpokou.â â°ď¸đď¸Hanpokou is one of the most famous sunrise spots on Lushan. At dawn, soft morning light glimmers over Poyang Lake, blending sky and water into one. The sun rises over the lake, casting golden rays everywhereâinstantly painting the landscape in brilliant crimson, like a dazzling masterpiece. đ đTo the west of Hanpokou stands the famous glacial horn peak âLitoujian,â resembling a sharp plow blade tilling the vast sea of clouds. đŹď¸đď¸
Facing Hanpokou is Hanyang Peakâthe highest point of Lushan. To the north is Dayue Mountain, the second highest, and to the south is Wulao Peak, the third. At the foot of these peaks lies Poyang Lake, a large freshwater lake whose beauty rivals the surrounding mountains. đď¸đAtop Hanpo Ridge is a square pavilion known as âWangpo Pavilion,â the prime spot to watch the sunrise over Lushan. đ
Climbing to Wangpo Pavilion in the soft morning light, youâll see the horizon glowing faintly. Soon, golden beams pierce the sky over Poyang Lake, and purple clouds rise. Suddenly, a brilliant red sun bursts from the misty lake, dyeing the blue sky, green waters, and distant mountains in radiant huesâan awe-inspiring sight. đđŤ

Dako Waterfall (No Ticket Required) 3.2/5
Dako Waterfall is a recently developed attraction by the Lushan Administration, also known as the Rainbow Waterfall. After rain showers, you can often see colorful rainbows under the bright sunlight here. đ
It is said that the âMilky Wayâ mentioned in Li Baiâs poem âThe sun shines on the incense burner, purple smoke rises, and from afar, the waterfall hangs before the river. The water flows down 3,000 feet, seemingly the Milky Way falling from the ninth heavenâ refers to this Dako Waterfall. Though times have changed, Dako Waterfall has now become a âcultural waterfall,â no longer retaining the grandeur of the past. However, the water is very cool and refreshing. Just dipping your feet into it provides relief from the heat caused by walking. đ§
Nearby, there are attractions like the Immortalâs Finger, Eagle Beak Stone, Camel Peak, and Huangdan Kou. Dako Waterfall is also a typical glacial relic.
Included: Dako Waterfall cable car (includes scenic transportation fee). đ

Ruqin Lake (No Ticket Required) 4.7/5
Ruqin Lake is vast yet elegant. The lakeâs shoreline curves delicately, and its surface resembles a charming violin. The name âRuqinâ comes from the two characters carved on a stone by an ancient person beside the lake.
Half of the lake borders Huajing Park, also known as Huajing Lake. A winding bridge leads to an island in the middle of the lake. The park is full of blooming flowers, winding paths, scenic lake and mountain views, and picturesque surroundings. đ¸
The Huajing area is said to be where Tang Dynasty poet Bai Juyi wrote his poem âPeach Blossom at Daling Temple.â The park houses the âBai Juyi Memorial Hall.âA statue of Bai Juyi stands by the lake. A horizontal stone in Huajing Pavilion is engraved with the characters âHuajing,â believed to be written by Bai Juyi himself.

Seeing the peach blossoms fall at the foot of the mountain while they were still in full bloom here, the locals began calling it âBai Simaâs Flower Pathâ and built the âJing Bai Pavilion.â

Bai Juyiâs Cottage is located in the Huajing Park of Lushan Scenic Area in Jiangxi. In 1988, the âBai Juyi Memorial Hallâ was built in the park, and in 1996, a statue of Bai Juyi, created by the famous sculptor Wang Keqing, was erected by the lake.
A horizontal stone in the Huajing Pavilion is engraved with the characters âHuajing,â believed to be written by Bai Juyi himself.
Lushan National Scenic Area - Heavenly Bridge (No Ticket Required) 4.6/5
Lushan Heavenly Bridge is located in the beautiful valley. It is said that during the battle between Zhu Yuanzhang and Chen Youliang at Poyang Lake, Zhu Yuanzhang was defeated and forced to escape to Lushan with his remaining soldiers. Fleeing to a cliff with no way forward and enemies behind, at this moment of crisis, a golden dragon descended from the sky and turned into a rainbow bridge. Zhuâs soldiers just crossed the bridge and escaped, and at that moment, a thunderous sound rang out, and the dragon bridge broke, leaving behind this incredible phenomenon.
Later, Zhu Yuanzhang became the emperor, and this beautiful legend has been passed down to this day.
Later, a giant stone was placed in mid-air at the bottom of a deep ravine. Visitors can squat or stand at the front of the giant stone and use the distant cliffs as a backdrop, creating an illusion of danger in photos taken with the help of visual perspective.
Lushan National Scenic Area - Jinxiu Valley (No Ticket Required) 4.8/5
Jinxiu Valley is located in the Lushan Scenic Area and is a beautiful gorge that stretches about 1.5 kilometers from the stone steps on the left side of Heavenly Bridge to the Immortalâs Cave. It is formed where Daling Peak and Tianchi Mountain meet, creating a landscape shaped by repeated glacial carving during the Quaternary period.
The valley is filled with strange and beautiful stones, offering a dramatic yet serene landscape. If the temperature drops suddenly, it is also one of the best spots to view the misty clouds of Lushan. From the Heavenly Bridge, you enter Jinxiu Valley. There is no actual bridge, only a cliff with a large brown stone protruding towards the deep ravine, resembling a broken bridge from a distance.
Lushan National Scenic Area - Guanmiao Pavilion (No Ticket Required) 4.2/5
Guanmiao Pavilion is located in Jinxiu Valley of Lushan. On the pavilionâs pillars are couplets: âThe mountains and rivers open the spiritual realm, the cultural tracks bring peace and joy.â From here, you can have an unobstructed view of the beautiful scenery of Lushan.
Negotiation Platform (No Ticket Required) 4.4/5
The Negotiation Platform is located in the Jinxiu Valley Scenic Area of Lushan, also known as the âVisiting Immortal Pavilion.â It was originally built by Zhu Yuanzhang. Between July and September of 1946, U.S. envoy George Marshall visited Lushan several times for negotiation talks with General Chiang Kai-shek.
Immortalâs Cave (No Ticket Required) 4.6/5
Immortalâs Cave is one of the scenic spots in Lushan, located beneath the âBuddhaâs Hand Rockâ at the southern end of Jinxiu Valley. By the Qing Dynasty, Buddhaâs Hand Rock became a Taoist cave heaven and was renamed Immortalâs Cave.
The cave is approximately 10 meters high and deep. In the depths, there is a clear spring dripping, known as the âOne Drop Spring.â It is said that this spring has never dried up despite having been dripping for over a thousand years. Below the spring, there is a pool surrounded by a stone railing. The cave walls have inscriptions such as âCave Heavenâs Jade Liquid.â Legend has it that the Sword Immortal from the Eight Immortals practiced Taoism here and became immortal. When clouds and mist surround the area, it adds a mystical atmosphere.
On the left side of Immortalâs Cave, there is a stone-built moon gate, with the three large characters âImmortalâs Caveâ engraved above it. Inside the moon gate, there is a large stone protruding, shaped like a toad, known as the âToad Stone.â A sturdy pine tree stands tall and firm, called the âStone Pine.â On the stone, there are inscriptions such as âViewing the Cloudsâ and âSuddenly Opened and Clear.â Beneath the stone, the swirling clouds seem to float, as if entering an immortal realm.
On the right side of the cave, below the Guanmiao Pavilion, there is a larger stone called the âImmortalâs Stone,â protruding into the air. Beneath the stone is a vast abyss, creating an extraordinarily dangerous and thrilling view. From here, you can overlook the entire Jinxiu Valley.
Beside the Immortalâs Stone, there is a bamboo forest.
Lushan National Scenic Area - Dangerous Peak (No Ticket Required) 4.7/5
Dangerous Peak is one of the scenic spots in Lushan. With an elevation of 1,025 meters, the terrain is precarious. Standing here, you can feel the sensation of âStanding on the peak, gazing down upon the mountains.â
Dangerous Peak is also an excellent spot to view the panoramic scenery of Jinxiu Valley and the town of Jiujiang beneath Lushan (Jiujiang, historically known as Chaisang, is the setting for the famous lines in the poem âPlucking chrysanthemums by the eastern fence, I leisurely gaze upon the southern mountainsâ).
Lushan National Scenic Area - Imperial Tablet Pavilion (No Ticket Required) 4.5/5
The Imperial Tablet Pavilion is located on the White Deer Ascension Platform, beside the Immortalâs Cave in Lushan. The pavilion is square and heavy in structure, with stone walls instead of columns, making it uniquely designed. It still holds the imperial tablet of Zhu Yuanzhang. This place is famously depicted in the film âLushan Love,â where the male and female leads meet romantically while seeking shelter from the rain.
Next to the Imperial Tablet Pavilion, there is another pavilion, where it is said that the talented and beautiful Song Meiling once admired the view, feeling so joyful that she couldnât help but dance.

⢠Wuyuan Huangling (Including First Entrance Ticket) 4.6/5
Huangling Ancient Village is a typical mountain village surrounded by ancient trees and terraced fields, creating a picturesque and peaceful living environment. This beautiful location is rich in both natural beauty and historical culture, and it is one of the famous historical and cultural villages of ancient Huizhou. The village is perched on a mountain cliff, with uneven terrain. For centuries, the villagers have adapted to the rugged geography, creating a unique scene of drying crops under the sun.
In March, the vast fields of rapeseed flowers bloom across the terraces, and pink peach blossoms and white pear blossoms dot the landscape. This creates a beautiful ink-wash painting. Here, you can blend with nature and enjoy the flowers up close.By late March, the second phase of the highland terraced flower sea begins to bloom. Due to the large altitude difference and low temperatures, coupled with late-blooming rapeseed flower varieties, the flower season lasts until mid-April.
In summer, Huangling transforms into a magical summer night destination. Visitors can enjoy the ancient villageâs night views, the sunset glow, and winding roads with lanterns, creating a dreamy forest ambiance. At the village entrance, visitors can enjoy retro films and stroll through the cool summer markets. With autumnâs arrival, Huangling becomes a harvest scene.
